Use the special option of ‘Additional pulley’. Only available on the 136ps engine, this option provides an additional pulley on the crankshaft together with changes to the radiator hoses. It can be used when the vehicle is also fitted with air conditioning, and provides a drive for a fridge compressor or similar equipment.

The PTO packs C and D provide the hardware to drive additional equipment; the Crafter’s CAN data bus system provides alternative means of then controlling the engine speed and hence PTO output speed. In order to increase engine speed above tick-over it is necessary to also select one of the two engine speed control options. Both of these options mandate the use of the electrical interface unit.

• Speed control fixed. This provides a dashboard mounted rocker switch to raise or lower the engine speed in 50 rpm increments; the PTO load can cause the speed setting to vary +/- 50rpm. This option is not suitable for use with electrical generators.
• Speed control variable. This option provides a constant engine speed irrespective of the PTO load; to obtain a specific engine speed it is necessary to programme the electrical interface unit.

The Crafter chassis cab rear light units are designed with a drain hole on the underside when mounted horizontally; if they were mounted vertically any ingress of water would be unable to escape.

To purchase technical information a user needs to register whereby they are issued a user name and password; erWin is supplied in a format using SealedMedia and Adobe Acrobat Reader, both available as free downloads if not already installed.

From this you are able to purchase individual sections of a particular vehicle’s workshop manual. For example to purchase the section for Volkswagen Crafter ‘Body Collision Repairs’ the current cost is €18.40 for 1 year’s subscription. This allows constant access to this manual for 12 months, on its anniversary the subscription is automatically renewed unless cancelled in the meantime. To purchase all sections of the Crafter manual will cost €257 (approx £177), 14 sections @ €18.40, without the wiring diagram which is an additional €107.4 (approx £74).
