Ray Winstone to be the voice of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

A national, six-month radio advertising campaign for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles started today, recorded with the distinctive voice of the actor Ray Winstone who is famous for his roles in films such as The Departed and Sexy Beast, or television dramas such as Henry VIII and Robin of Sherwood. Later this year he will be starring in the next Indiana Jones adventure, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Volkswagen's research showed radio to be an excellent medium to communicate directly to van users and buyers, whether they are owner drivers or fleet managers. This will be Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles' biggest radio advertising campaign ever and will be heard on more than 250 radio stations in slots at the end of Traffic and Travel Bulletins, which cut in automatically to whatever the driver is listening to via the 'TP' (traffic bulletin) function on most in-vehicle radios.

Nine different advertisements were recorded featuring a range of subjects, including the launch of the new Volkswagen Caddy Maxi van, the Caddy, Transporter and Crafter light commercial vehicle ranges, the benefits of strong residual values and the excellent service provided by Volkswagen's unique, nationwide network of dedicated van centres.

Commenting on the new advertising campaign, Ralf Schueler, Head of Marketing at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles said: 'With his gravelly authority and reputation for straight talking, Ray Winstone is the perfect spokesman for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. He has really brought our Let's Go To Work advertising message to life.'

The advertising campaign was developed and scripted by RLA and was recorded in London last week.

Volkswagen achieved its eighth consecutive year of record sales in 2007 and is the third best-selling light commercial vehicle brand and number one van importer in the UK.
