EA189 service action

Our customers are our priority

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles EA189 Service Action Update

Dealer and customer outside VW Van Centre

Further information

In light of the investigation into emissions from diesel engines built by the Volkswagen Group, we would like to inform you that all new Volkswagen Commercial vehicles with EU6 engines are not affected. Transporter, Caravelle, California and Crafter are also unaffected.

We would also like to take this opportunity to reassure you that independent testing authorities have confirmed that there will be no negative impact on engine performance, maximum torque, fuel consumption, noise and CO2 emissions as a result of having this update applied.

We now have technical measures drawn up for the affected EA 189 engines (1.6-litre and 2.0-litre) which have been ratified by the relevant type approval authority, and we will be writing to our customers in turn as we roll out the service action programme.

How to check if your vehicle is affected

We have developed a simple ‘self-service’ website, so that you can check if your vehicle is affected by the EA 189 NOx emissions issue.

All you need to do is enter the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) details if your vehicle. Please note that it can take up to 28 days from your vehicle having the technical measure applied for the website to show your vehicle as having the technical measure completed.

How to find your VIN: you can find your VIN in the front of the service book or at the bottom of the windscreen on the right hand side (as you look into the vehicle from the outside).

The VIN will look like this: WVWZZZ1JZXW000010
