A new approach to electric mobility
The models in our ID. family offer everything that you can expect from mobility in the future. They are electric, efficient and produce zero emissions whilst driving – and take us a great step further on our way to achieving a smaller carbon footprint. But in order to make electric mobility not just possible for everyone but also sustainable, we first had to develop a system that exploits the possibilities offered by this technology: the modular electric drive matrix (MEB). The MEB is a standard vehicle platform that is designed specifically for electric vehicles. Developed from scratch, it makes production more efficient and delivers economies of scale. Because the MEB offers the perfect basis for all models with more space and comfort – from city car to van.
Charging made easy: the battery technology
The heart of the MEB is a battery system capable of fast charging which is integrated in the vehicle floor to save space and also as protection for the battery. To ensure that you can enjoy balanced and dynamic driving behaviour, the flat battery form reduces the centre of gravity and ensures better weight distribution.
