Treat yourself to upgrades. As a primary user of VW Connect you can easily view and add available upgrade functions in the In-Car Shop on your infotainment system.

Upgrades – downloadable functions

Upgrades allow you to enhance your Volkswagen with additional features retrospectively and flexibly. To purchase and use these upgrades, you need a Volkswagen ID user account, a valid VW Connect or previously We Connect⁠ contract, and authentication as the primary user, which involves linking your user account to the specific vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle must have the necessary technical capabilities and hardware to support the upgrades.

How to purchase

The primary user can view available upgrade options for their vehicle in the In-Car Shop via the infotainment system. For paid products, you can store a payment method in the Volkswagen Connect WebshopOpens an external link, or pay via bank transfer in the In-Car Shop. Once purchased and activated, these upgrades remain with the vehicle, are accessible to all drivers, and cannot be transferred to other vehicles.

  • Navigation

    Know where to go

    Enhance your orientation by activating navigation functions for your Ready 2 Discover Infotainment system. You'll get a 2D map view and access to POIs, available offline without needing an internet connection or VW Connect contract.

    With VW Connect Plus you can access online services like real-time traffic updates and optimised route guidance. Your maps update automatically when your vehicle is online and the “Share my position” setting is enabled.

  • Voice Control

    “Hello Volkswagen”

    Activate natural voice interaction simply by saying “Hello Volkswagen.” This intelligent system enables safe and convenient control of key functions such as phone calls, media playback, and navigation.

    For vehicles equipped with the “Ready 2 Discover” or “Discover Media” navigation systems, voice control allows seamless management of numerous vehicle features. Depending on your model and equipment, a wide range of functions can be operated via voice commands—allowing you to stay focused on the road while enjoying a more refined driving experience.

  • Dynamic Road Sign Display

    Everything in view

    Dynamic Road Sign Display can detect speed limits, no overtaking signs, and hazard signs within the system's limits, and show this information on the multifunction display. This helps you keep track of traffic more easily.

  • Light Assist

    Lit up in a new light

    The light assist main beam control enhances night driving. Using a camera behind the windscreen, light assist detects oncoming vehicles and those ahead within system limits, automatically switching between dipped and main beam. Say goodbye to being dazzled.

  • App-Connect

    Bring your apps into the car

    With an app for nearly every need, convenience is always at your fingertips. Thanks to App-Connect, that same practicality extends to your Volkswagen. Effortlessly access and control selected apps directly through your vehicle’s infotainment or navigation system—keeping you connected while you drive.

  • Background lighting

    Gives you inner peace

    Give your Multivan more personality. By expanding the basic background lighting, you can light up the interior to match your mood thanks to individual colour selection. The mood lighting provides you with an extended colour package as an upgrade function, giving you a larger colour selection for designing lighting accents. You can select the right atmosphere for you and your passengers for each journey with either a cool or a warm colour for driving in a well-lit city or at night on a dark country road.

    Dynamic Background Lighting: illuminating and informative

    Elevate your driving experience with lighting that does more than set the mood. Dynamic Background Lighting enhances standard ambient illumination by intuitively visualizing key functions. Depending on your vehicle’s equipment, this includes informative and safety cues such as acceleration indicators or door-open alerts—combining style with intelligent functionality.

The best way to find out how easy it is to upgrade your Volkswagen is to actually try it out yourself. As a Volkswagen Connect primary user, you get a free one-month trial on most options so you can experience the functionality before making your decision. After that, there are three subscriptions periods you can choose from to perfectly fit your needs.
