Requirements for a software update in your vehicle
- You need a We Connect contract. The free We Connect contract is sufficient for this.
- You need to be logged into your vehicle as the primary user.
- You must not be in offline mode: data sharing must be enabled to receive a software update.
Update process
Here we will give you an overview of how to install the latest software update in your vehicle.
If an update is available, you will receive a notification in your vehicle’s infotainment system. This will include information about the upcoming changes.
You can start downloading the update from this notification, or alternatively you can cancel it. If you choose to cancel, you will be informed about the update again later.
The download takes place in the background. In the meantime, you can continue to use your vehicle and do not have to wait for it to complete. You can view the progress in the infotainment system under “System information”. If you switch off the ignition, the download pauses. As soon as you switch it back on, it continues.
When the download is complete, you will receive a notification that the update is ready to be installed. When you start the installation, park the vehicle safely and leave the vehicle. The installation takes place once the ignition is switched off. Please do not use the vehicle for the duration of the installation to ensure that the update is installed correctly. The installation can take 20–40 minutes. The exact installation time is displayed in the infotainment system. Alternatively, you can cancel the installation. In this case, you will be notified about the update again later.
You will receive a notification that the system update has been completed. If something seems unusual to you after the update, please contact your Volkswagen Van Centre.
