The electric drive: moving you into the future

Dynamic and suitable for everyday use; These are the characteristics of the innovative electric drive in the ID. Buzz.

It masters almost all everyday challenges, from private customers as well as commercial customers. The electric motor, which is cleverly housed in the rear in the ID. Buzz Life and Style, has a maximum output of up to 210 kW - that’s the equivalent of 286PS. The GTX is powered by 2 motors housed at the front and rear, producing a maximum output of 250kW – that’s the equivalent of 340PS. The battery with 86 kWh net energy content (ID. Buzz Life and Style 7-seat) ensures the ID. Buzz can drive up to 293 miles3 without going to a charging station. Environmentally conscious, fully-electric and robust - the ID. Buzz range sets new standards at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

  • Battery

Fast charging, long range and smart charging solutions: The lithium-ion high-voltage battery in the vehicles floor of the ID. Buzz offers a net energy content of 79 kWh (gross: 84 kWh). You can travel up to 293 miles without recharging3.

The maximum charging power for fast charging (DC) is up to 185 kW for the ID. Buzz 5-seat and up to 200 KW for the ID. Buzz 7-seat. At this charging rate, it only takes around 30 minutes to charge the battery from 5% to 80%4. To make the charging process even easier, thanks to Plug & Charge5 you only have to plug in the cable and charging begins. With this technology, your authentication data is stored in the car after its first use. After that, the charging station will automatically recognise who you are.

This technology has been available in part since 2022 and will be gradually rolled out via an ISO-certified standard so that you can use more and more Plug & Charge5 charging stations in the future.

  • Electric engine

Agile and maneuverable: The innovative powertrain of the ID. Buzz is seamlessly integrated into the rear axle. It has a maximum output of 340 PS (ID. Buzz GTX), which accelerates the electric vehicle from 0 to 62mph in 6.1. seconds. This enables trailer loads of up to 1,800 kg to be easily attached to the optional device.

With maximum torque of 560Nm, available on demand, combined with a low centre of gravity thanks to the battery location in the “sandwich floor”, the ID. Buzz is very agile. A small turning circle of just 11.8 metres (ID. Buzz 7-seat), means it can also be easily steered through the narrow inner-city streets

Official test (WLTP) electric range for the ID. Buzz. Max range (official WLTP) for ID. Buzz is 277 to 293 miles, depending on trim. [277 miles applies to the ID. Buzz Style 5-seat and 293 miles applies to ID. Buzz Life 6-seat LWB]. These figures were obtained after the battery had been fully charged to 100%. The ID. Buzz is a battery electric vehicle requiring mains electricity for charging. Figures shown are for comparability purposes. Only compare electric range figures with other vehicles tested to the same technical procedures. These figures may not reflect real life driving results, which will depend upon a number of factors including the starting charge of the battery, accessories fitted (post-registration), variations in weather, driving styles, speed, vehicle and battery age and vehicle load. Data correct at [08/2024].  Zero emissions while driving. Fuel consumption for battery electric vehicles is not applicable. Figures quoted are subject to change due to ongoing approvals/changes and range of figures for a model may include options not available in the UK. Please consult your Van Centre for further information. The vehicle specification shown on the website and brochures may vary as Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles UK review the model range line up throughout the year. Please ensure that you clarify the exact vehicle specification with your Volkswagen Van Centre at point of order. Lithium-ion batteries, of the type used in most electric vehicles (including Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles electric vehicles) have a restricted lifespan. Battery capacity will reduce over time, with use and charging. Reduction in battery capacity will affect the performance of the vehicle, including the range achievable, and may impact resale value. New car performance figures (including battery capacity and range) may be provided for the purposes of comparison between vehicles. You should not rely on new car performance figures (including battery capacity and range), in relation to used vehicles with older batteries, as they will not reflect used vehicle performance in the real world. To charge at 200kW, you will need to use a charger in excess of 200kW. The availability of 200kW + chargers is currently limited in the UK. They are mainly located on selected motorways and major arterial routes. These chargers are not currently available in Northern Ireland and numbers are low in Scotland, Wales and rural parts of England. Please see EV charging stations & electric vehicles - Zapmap for further details.
