We are making minor updates with this Over-the-Air Update.

• With this Over-the-Air Update, we are updating the software of the electronic brake servo.
• The brake servo makes it possible to reduce the actuation force on the brakes of a vehicle, which is required to achieve the desired braking effect.
• The update ensures an improved operating principle of the software, even across future updates.

For you, there are no differences in the function of your vehicle.

This installation is a prerequisite for receiving future Over-the-Air Updates. It will not be possible to install later updates if this update has not been installed. In this case, please contact your Volkswagen dealership.

Important notes:

During installation, the anti-theft alarm system in your vehicle (if installed) is not active.

Resetting software versions is not possible. This update does not increment the displayed ID. software version.

If modifications have been made to your vehicle that interfere with the vehicle's control signals (e.g. taxi conversion), please do not carry out an Over-the-Air Update; instead, contact your Volkswagen partner.

Updates may affect the functions of unauthorised changes made by third-party provider services via the on-board diagnostic connection.

This over-the-air update optimises the vehicle control system of your ID.Buzz.

• This updates the software of the pulse inverter. It converts the electrical energy between the high-voltage battery and the motor.
• The update ensures improved availability of the powertrain. When driving for the first time after the update, automatic calibration of the drive may take place. In this case, you may notice a brief jolt the first time you accelerate to a speed of 30–40 km/h after the update. After releasing and re-applying the accelerator pedal, the calibration is complete and full driving power is available again.

Why the update is important:

• The optimised software ensures smoother and more efficient control of the vehicle. For you, there are no differences in the function of your vehicle.
• Continuous improvement. Our updates build on each other. It is therefore crucial that no update is missed to ensure the best possible performance and functionality of your vehicle.
• Installing the latest software ensures that your vehicle is always in optimal condition, resulting in a better driving experience and a longer service life.

This Over-the-Air Update provides your vehicle with a range of improvements.

With the preparation for bidirectional charging, your vehicle can become a rolling energy storage unit in combination with a suitable home energy management system. You can then charge and store electricity as well as supply it again. Thanks to the high storage capacity of the vehicle, a home can then also be supplied with solar power, if the photovoltaic system does not supply any power for an extended period of time, such as after sunset. You can thereby decide for yourself when you want to receive power from the public mains network or utilise the stored power in the vehicle battery. In addition to your vehicle, you will need a suitable home power station and the appropriate DC wall box to use this function. Its availability can vary depending on the country. More information is available from the respective supplier.

• Equipment-specific improved availability of lane keeping and lane change system
• Improvements for opening the boot lid using the remote control
• Minimising of noises during charging, which can be caused by interference with some mains connections
• Improvements in drive behaviour
• Stabilisation of the Infotainment system

Notes:
Complete installation of this over-the-air update is a prerequisite for receiving further updates. If you do not perform the installation, the new features and improvements described here will not be available. Resetting software versions is not possible. Updates may affect the functions of unauthorised changes made by third-party provider services via the on-board diagnostic connection. Some personal settings, such as favourite radio stations, will be reset during installation. Your Digital Manual will be updated automatically after this Over-the-Air Update. The vehicle must remain online for this purpose. Once the update is complete, you will receive a notification in the infotainment system. For vehicles equipped with an anti-theft alarm system, this is not active during installation. Warning lamps may also light up sporadically. During installation, the doors are temporarily not usable. If modifications have been made to the vehicle outside the area of responsibility of Volkswagen AG (e.g. as a taxi or police vehicle) that interfere with the electronic control signals of the vehicle through software or hardware measures, it cannot be guaranteed that the associated modification functions (e.g. the taximeter or route measurement in a taxi) will function properly after the update in the event of a software update for the control units affected by this. In this case, please do not perform an Over-the-Air Update and contact your Volkswagen partner. The "Discharge" function within the bidirectional charging function is no longer available once the intended operating time (of 4,000 hours) or an energy quantity (of 10,000 kWh) has been reached.

Software modification for the pulse inverter

With this over-the-air update, we are updating the software for the pulse inverter. It converts the electrical energy between the high-voltage battery and the motor. The update helps to improve the availability of the drive, also across future updates. When driving for the first time after the update, automatic calibration of the drive may take place. The driving power is limited to up to 30-40 km/h or 19-25 mph. You will feel a brief jolt as soon as you have accelerated to this speed. After releasing the accelerator pedal and pressing it again, the full driving power will be available again. There are no other functional differences for you. Installation is a prerequisite for receiving future Over-the-Air Updates. For vehicles equipped with an anti-theft alarm system, this is not active during installation. Resetting software versions is not possible. This update does not increment the displayed ID. software version. If conversions have been completed that affect the control signals of the vehicle (e.g. taxi), please do not complete an Over-the-Air Update and contact your Volkswagen partner instead.

• Among other things, the update process and the interaction between the door control unit and anti-theft alarm system will be optimised.

An icon in your vehicle’s display will tell you whether privacy mode is activated or deactivated.

The icon depicts a man in a hat:
If the icon is displayed, privacy mode is activated. This means you cannot receive over-the-air updates.

The icon depicts a connection symbol:
When this icon is displayed, the vehicle is online and you can receive over-the-air updates.

In the app, you can view the activated online services and check whether the connection is active.

The download speed depends on the speed of the mobile network (LTE/3G/EDGE, etc.).

If the driving time between the start of the download and possible installation is very short, the download might not be complete in some circumstances. The download process takes place automatically in the background while the vehicle continues to be used.

The vehicle cannot be used after confirmation of installation and must not be charged or opened during the update.

Due to the size of our vehicle fleet, the time at which customers receive updates may vary. Unfortunately, it is not possible to accelerate the gradual roll-out.

To check the current software version in your vehicle, tap “ID. Software” on your Infotainment screen. If the “ID. Software” tile is not available, you can perform the following steps to determine the software version installed in your ID.: 

1. In the Infotainment screen, select the “Settings” tile
2. Select “System information”
3. The “System information” screen shows the software version currently installed

To receive an update via OTA, please ensure that the following requirements are met:

1. Activate VW Connect or We Connect: Please activate VW Connect or We Connect for your ID. Buzz.
2. Consent to data use: Please consent to data use.
3. Activate online mode: Please activate online mode.
