Freedom awaits. Explore Europe in your California.

Go beyond the guidebook and explore four must-see destinations in Europe. Each one was hand-picked by us to offer a unique experience for your next camping road trip. Park up your California and discover the nature and local culture at its very best.

Maso Lizzone, Italy

If you’re looking for a home away from home with stunning views of the Sarca Valley this is the place for you. Brothers Lino and Silvano Brigheti have been welcoming guests to their fruit farm, Maso Lizzone for 26 years.

A mere 20 minutes’ drive from Lake Garda, you’ll find a peaceful campsite nestled in lush vineyards and olive groves. The perfect haven for lovers of the great outdoors.

Camp on one of the seven pitches or stay in the cosy farmhouse itself and feel free to use the large kitchen and common room. Don’t miss the delicious breakfast buffet here and perhaps sample the seasonal fare of apples and grapes. Dogs are welcome too and will love exploring the valley.

If you’re feeling more adventurous, you’ll find Arco just a few kilometres away – a mecca for walkers, climbers and mountain bikers alike. The ideal spot to get active and check out one of Europe’s most popular climbing destinations.

And after a day’s activities why not cool off with a dip in the site’s own pool?

Camp Lupis, Croatia

Fancy a campsite with its own sheltered bay and beach?  Take your pick of Camp Lupis’ 50 or so terrace-style plots. You’ll find them scattered across the hillside along the Pelješac peninsula in southern Dalmatia.

Each pitch has Wi-Fi, power and water connection points. Plus, there’s solar-powered hot water on tap and even a dog-friendly shower to keep your four-legged friends cool.

With the sea so close, why not take to the water or rent a boat? There’s also a playground for little landlubbers. It’s easy to explore more and cycle along the fragrant orange and lemon groves. Or take the coastal road to Lovište, a traditional fishing village just a stone’s throw away, and try some local delicacies.

Lovsjöbaden's Camping, Sweden

If you’re looking for a fantastic five-day road trip – travel through the fairytale landscape of Småland to the island of Öland. Southern Sweden’s dense forests and small villages make the ideal backdrop for your round trip. Great for families, and a wonderful mixture of nature and culture to inspire everyone.

Lovsjöbaden's Camping in Småland, next to Lake Lovsjön is just south of Jönköping. Most of its 85 pitches have a gorgeous view of the lake so it’s worth spending a few days here before you set off.

Take a little time to look around Jönköping – maybe catch the unique Matchstick Museum before stopping off by the crystal-clear waters of Lake Vättern. The Store Mosse National Park is also nearby – and the perfect place to hike.

Wherever you head to next, be sure to park up your California along the way and enjoy a Fika – Sweden’s traditional coffee break with pastries – they taste twice as good after a long hike on Öland.

Kjørnes Camping, Norway

Let’s set the scene. Imagine parking up where majestic mountains rise above glassy fjords and spectacular glaciers carve through the landscape.

Kjørnes Camping is ideally situated on Sognefjorden – the King of the fjords. Norway’s longest and deepest fjord is the perfect starting point to experience everything this remarkable country has to offer.

You’ll be spoilt for choice with Kjørnes’ 140 pitches for campers, caravans and tents, and all of the pitches have power. Take in the panoramic views of Sognefjorden, explore the shoreline or head to the coastal path. There’s plenty of hiking terrain close to camp.

Take a guided walk across Jostedalsbreen – the largest glacier in mainland Europe. See the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord, known for its striking towering cliffs and narrow waterways. Or visit another World Heritage Site, Urnes Stave Church for its striking Viking and medieval Christian art.
