House of Coco takes the ID. Buzz on an electrified adventure across the UK

Gina Buckney, contributor to House of CocoOpens an external link, took an electric tour of the UK, driving from the Lake District all the way to Wembley Stadium, in the ID. Buzz.

Needless to say, she enjoyed her travels in our futuristic family motor.

The ID. Buzz proved to be a ‘trusty roadtrip companion’, turning heads during the trip thanks to its retro design and stylish two-tone Candy White and Lime Yellow colourway.

The design of the vehicle blends form and function. It provided plenty of space for Gina and her family to enjoy a delicious picnic inside and the thoughtful features, such as the panoramic sunroof, allowed nature to flood in and fill the cabin with beautiful natural light.

Making use of the vehicle’s 257 miles1 of all-electric range, Gina and her family used the ID. Buzz to explore the length and breadth of England.

As the UK’s uptake in electric vehicles accelerates, so does the need for planning your electric journey. But fear not, Gina has a number of useful hacks to make your electric life that little bit easier, as well as saving hard-earned pennies:

  1. Planning – Use EV apps, such as Zapmap, to find charging stations on your route, or visit Tesco, which has the UK’s largest retail EV charging network thanks to Volkswagen and PodPoint
  2. Charge at home, while you sleep – Electricity tariffs are cheaper at night, so this practice is cost effective and means that you start the day with 100% charge
  3. Adopt an eco-friendly driving style – Smooth braking and acceleration can contribute to extending the electric range. The ID. Buzz has a ‘B’ drive mode which increases regenerative braking and means each charge goes that little bit further

Lithium-ion batteries, of the type used in most electric vehicles (including Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles electric vehicles) have a restricted lifespan. Battery capacity will reduce over time, with use and charging. Reduction in battery capacity will affect the performance of the vehicle, including the range achievable, and may impact resale value. New car performance figures (including battery capacity and range) may be provided for the purposes of comparison between vehicles. You should not rely on new car performance figures (including battery capacity and range), in relation to used vehicles with older batteries, as they will not reflect used vehicle performance in the real world.
