VW Connect – your guide to online services

VW Connect gives you a direct connection to your ID. Buzz, enriching everyday life with a range of digital services. These services are available free of charge after a one-time activation. To enjoy them, simply complete a separate VW Connect contract with Volkswagen AG online.

Please note: Full access to online services depends on certain conditions, including your selected user role, settings in the “Manage Services” menu, and your vehicle’s privacy preferences.

Breakdown Call (incl. data)

In the event of a breakdown, we’ll get to you quickly. Simply press a button in the ID. Buzz to activate the Breakdown Call that will send your location and vehicle information to the Volkswagen Call Centre. A staff member will then help you to identify the cause of the breakdown or will dispatch a service vehicle to you if the problem cannot be solved immediately.⁠

Vehicle status

View all kinds of relevant vehicle data – wherever you are. For example, the current mileage (miles), the status of doors and lights or the notification for plug-in hybrid models that the battery needs to be charged.⁠

Vehicle Health Report

Before you drive, you can get information about the current status of the ID. Buzz. The service lists any existing warning messages and service events due and displays the current status of the driver assistance systems.⁠

Battery Care Mode

Battery care mode always sets the target charge level of the high-voltage battery in your ID. Buzz to a battery-saving 80%. You can increase it manually when charging before long journeys – it’ll reset automatically afterwards. Charging for departure times is unaffected by this. From ID. Software 3.0 you can control the service simply using the Volkswagen app.⁠

Plug & Charge

Just plug in your cable and start charging: with a valid plan from a charging provider, you can use Plug & Charge to charge automatically at suitably equipped charging stations. Manual authentication by charging card or app is no longer required – charging and billing take care of themselves.  

Parking Position

With the “Parking Position” service, simply touch your smartphone display and it’ll show you where you parked. And the quickest way to get there, if needed.

Personalisation

Your ID. Buzz welcomes you personally : you can save your seating position, mirror adjustment, lighting, preferred temperature and driver assist systems in your driver profile and activate them by logging into your ID.Buzz with your Volkswagen ID. Electric mobility can really be that easy.⁠ From the ID. Software 4.0 onwards, Personalisation is an offline function, which is why the settings can no longer be transferred to other vehicles.

Outside temperature notifications

Low outdoor temperatures can affect battery performance. If local weather forecasts combined with your current battery charge reach a critical level, the Volkswagen app will recommend warming up⁠ or charging the battery. You’ll be advised to set a departure time or recharge your ID. Buzz to help prevent cold conditions from reducing your vehicle’s driving range  

Service Scheduling

Your ID. Buzz can remind you of upcoming service requirements on request, giving you more time to focus on what matters most. When a service such as an inspection is due, your vehicle can securely send the relevant data directly to your preferred Volkswagen Van Centre—provided online connectivity is available—allowing them to contact you to arrange an appointment.* You can easily find and select a Van Centre via your myVolkswagen customer area or the Volkswagen app. Thanks to the transferred data, your Van Centre can even estimate how long the service will take, making scheduling your appointment simple and almost effortless.

Over-the-air updates

Over-the-air updates keep your ID. Buzz up-to-date: via the mobile data connection, your ID. Buzz receives a new software bundle. Its installation improves comfort and control and adds new functions

Charging instructions

As the primary user of your ID. Buzz, you can choose to receive push notifications tailored to your vehicle. If charging settings haven’t been configured shortly after vehicle handover, or if the Battery Care Mode service is inactive, you’ll receive helpful recommendations to activate them. This ensures full access to charging guidance features. You can, however, deactivate the service at any time or switch to offline mode if preferred.

Lock & Unlock

Take control of your ID. Buzz’s central locking system directly from your smartphone, allowing you to lock and unlock the doors and luggage compartment with ease.

VW Connect Plus – a whole world of online services

Activating VW Connect Plus enhances the digital capabilities of your ID. Buzz, offering additional valuable services such as intelligent navigation and remote functions accessible via smartphone.

To utilise these services, you need to enter into a separate VW Connect Plus contract with Volkswagen AG.

Please be aware that the full availability of online services is subject to additional conditions, including the chosen user role, the settings in the "Manage Services" menu, and the privacy settings in your vehicle.

Departure Times

If you drive a plug-in hybrid or fully electric vehicle, the “Departure Times” service lets you set your preferred interior temperature for your departure time and in certain vehicle models, also lets you specify when to charge the battery.⁠

Air conditioning

The "Air Conditioning" service enables you to personalise your temperature settings. In addition, the "Windscreen heating" function improves visibility and lets you sleep a little longer.⁠

Online voice control

With the optional voice control⁠ online upgrade, you can enhance your vehicle’s voice control. Select your favourite music online, search for your favourite internet radio station with voice command, and take advantage of the intuitive destination input while navigating. Depending on the vehicle model, you can also dictate emails or have them read out to you or operate your In-Car Apps – without taking your eyes off the road.

Charging

If you have set up a VW Connect contract or a VW Connect Plus contract, you can use the “Charging” service to monitor your battery's charge level and start or stop charging sessions.

Internet Radio

A surefire hit – enjoy all the benefits of internet radio in your ID. Buzz now. The Internet radio* service means that searching for and playing live stations and podcast episodes is as easy as can be.⁠

Online Traffic, Route, Map, Destination and Route Import Information

With near real-time information*, navigation becomes even smarter, keeping you effortlessly up to date with essential services such as Online Traffic Information, Online Route Calculation, Online Map Updates and Online POI Search. Continuously refreshed data delivers valuable insights, helping guide you along the most efficient route so you can reach your destination faster, smarter and with less stress.

Online POI Search

With the Online POI Search, it's even more efficient to find special destinations such as restaurants or attractions – using voice input, too. You also receive up-to-date information on the relevant destinations. The online database provides a large number of entries and an optimised search engine.

Parking Spaces

Find public parking spaces and car parks nearby easily and without stress. The infotainment system of your ID. Buzz provides you with information about prices, capacities and opening hours – and navigates you quickly and efficiently to your desired destination.⁠

Charging Stations

Get a quick overview of filling stations and charging stations along your route – including current information about prices, opening hours and availability.⁠

Infotainment system quick start

On request, the infotainment system from ID. Software 5.0 onwards will start automatically shortly before the expected departure times based on your individual usage routines. For this to take place, you must consent to the analysis of your usage data in advance.

 

Online voice assistant

With the online voice assistant IDA ⁠, you can control all kinds of vehicle and infotainment functions using voice command. The Internet connection offers you improved search results. Ask for information on things like the weather, sports and what’s going on around you – it’s simple and intuitive.⁠ 

And pretty smart: you can now access ChatGPT artificial intelligence on the move, too – for information, for research or just for entertainment.

In-Car Apps in your ID. Buzz

Whether you’re using the We Charge service in your ID. Buzz or enjoying retro games while charging, a VW Connect activation unlocks a wide range of digital apps for your vehicle. These can be easily downloaded from the In‑Car Shop via the infotainment system, expanding your ID. Buzz’s functionality to suit your needs. Available apps include the Vehicle Service app, which allows you to conveniently contact your preferred Volkswagen Van Centre directly from your vehicle, and AirConsole, an in-car gaming platform which transforms your ID. Buzz infotainment display into a games console.

Packages & renewal prices

Our ID. models are prepared for connectivity as standard via a permanently installed SIM card. The VW Connect and VW Connect Plus service packages are available for new vehicles free of charge for an initial period.
