In day‑to‑day use, they’re very similar. The big difference is that the e‑Transporter is all‑electric, while the TDI Transporter runs on conventional fuel. Using an 11kW AC wallbox, a full 0–100% charge typically takes around 10.30 hours. So, if you charge overnight from a home wallbox, you’ll wake up every morning to a full battery, no more annoying stops at the petrol station. With a 125kW DC rapid charger, found at public charging stations, a 10–80% top‑up usually takes about 30 minutes, so you can feel confident, even on longer journeys

Because electricity is cheaper per mile than diesel or petrol, electric vans can cut “fuel” costs by around 70–80% when charging at home on a good tariff. Maintenance is also typically lower: there are fewer moving parts and no oil changes. On top of that the e‑Transporter is exempt from ULEZ fees and receives a 50% discount on the London Congestion Charge until 2030, meaning the daily rate is £9.00. When you add it all up there are substantial savings to be made, particularly for urban and fleet operators.

With the 70kWh battery, official WLTP figures suggest a range of up to 225 miles^⁠3 . The distance you achieve will vary with things like speed, payload, route and weather, and will usually be lower in cold conditions or during sustained motorway driving.

Because of the battery weight, payload in the e‑Transporter Panel van is slightly lower than comparable diesel models, at roughly 911 kg to 1,081 kg^⁠8 (including driver) depending on specification. However, the e‑Transporter Panel van keeps the same generous load volumes of approximately 5.8m³ to 6.8m³ depending on the length of the wheelbase.

Yes. The new e‑Transporter can tow a braked trailer with a capacity of up to around 1,000 kg to 2,300 kg^⁠9 (depending on version), giving it strong flexibility for work use.

• Panel van: Focused on cargo, with a full bulkhead, 2–3 front seats and maximum load space.
• Kombi: Adds a second row of flexible seats with space for up to six (five as standard) so you can carry your crew as well as tools and equipment. (The second row seats can be folded flat, or removed when load space is the priority).
