The California. The world's most successful campervan from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is a symbol of both freedom of life on the road and everyday functionality. The new California sets out to continue this legacy. A new interior concept with new functionality: the new California is a campervan fit for every adventure, while offering plenty of practical features for day-to-day life.

3-room concept with summer kitchen

The new California comes with two sliding side doors as standard, making the campervan more flexible for everyday life. The sliding door on the driver's side ensures comfortable and easy entry and exit. The second sliding door, on the passenger side, together with the completely redesigned kitchen and an external folding table, enables greater versatility for cooking and outdoor eating. The kitchen has a gas hob and sink, located directly by the sliding door. The fridge is accessible from the inside and outside, and is protected from the weather with the optional awning. With this second sliding door, the new California offers a three-zone concept for camp sites.

Highly flexible seating

More spacious camping is a given in the new California. Instead of a manual handbrake, the electric parking brake allows for extra space between the driver's and front passenger's seats (both adjustable in rotation and height). There is plenty of space behind the driver's seat and the two easily interchangeable individual seats in the rear passenger compartment provide more space for long objects, such as surfboards. They also offer more flexibility and greater comfort, thanks to the sleeping function and integrated drawers.

Smart camping

Digital features and intelligent assistance systems: in the new California, practicality is standard. The climate control in the passenger area, heating of the interior via the auxiliary heater, control of the ambient light (all around roof lining), and much more can be accessed via three touchpoints: the California App, new in-car App and new camper control unit on the C-pillar with 12.7 cm (5-inch) portrait touch display.
