Waka Waka - Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles & AirConsole celebrate
PAC-MAN’s Birthday at MCM Comic Con London 2026
New research1 reveals that 45% of Brits are considering buying a retro gaming device in the next twelve months, driven by nostalgia for the technology and games they remember from childhood.
And so, in the spirit of celebrating all things 80s and 90s, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles unveiled a one-off PAC-MAN™ ID. Buzz at MCM Comic Con London, on PAC-MAN’s Birthday. Attendees had the opportunity to step inside the vehicle and play the legendary arcade game, celebrating 45 years of one of the most recognised video game characters of all time.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has partnered with N-Dream – the company behind AirConsole – and Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. to offer a range of popular games that can be played in ID. Buzz via the AirConsole In-Car App. The app transforms the infotainment system into a real gaming platform, allowing users to play games such as PAC-MAN™ Championship Edition via their smartphone to help pass the time while charging or taking a break.
The ID. Buzz is available in five-, six- and seven-seat configurations, offering unrivalled family-friendly practicality and spaciousness, to suit long journeys and everyday trips. Celebrated for its retro-inspired charm, the ID. Buzz perfectly combines nostalgia with modern electric innovation, to bring the legendary arcade game to life.
For the first time, visitors to MCM Comic Con London - the three-day celebration of all things gaming, anime and pop culture – were able to use the AirConsole to compete in a live forum to set the highest score, combining classic gameplay with modern, connected technology.
There were over 100,000 visitors to Comic Con across the three days and the weekend’s highest PACMAN score was Scott with a whopping 50,250. To find out more about AirConsole and how to play, visit here or DM us on Instagram to join the PAC and share your own all-time highest score.
